Pierluigi Villani was born in Naples on 17th January 1971 and he is following his father's footsteps. His father Virgilio Villani was an actor, a singer and a producer of Master R. De Simone's company.

Pierluigi started studying drums very early, when he was only 12 years old, under Master A. Romano's guidance and got Percussion Diploma in 1992 at "San Pietro a Majella" Academy of Music in Naples. In 2000 Pierluigi got Jazz Music Diploma from Master Bruno Tommaso at the same Academy of Music.

In 2007 he graduated with first class honours in Jazz Music at "N. Piccinni" Academy of Music in Bari. Pierluigi improved his musical performance studying drums together with Alfredo Golino and attending seminaries with important artists such as Jack De Johnette, Peter Erskine, Steve Gadd, Danny Gottlieb, Dave Weckl, Steve Smith, Sonny Emory, Greg Bissonette, Vinnie Colaiuta, Roberto Gatto, Christian Mayer.

Pierluigi Villani took part in the Baronissi International Competition together with the Jazz a Majella (J.a.M.) Orchestra coming second. Again together with J.a.M Orchestra, he worked as instrumentalist and author for the soundtrack of "Silent Movie" by Mel Brooks. In autumn 2000 Pierluigi Villani worked as author and interpreter for "Memoria Futura" multimedial project by OSA and for putting works by Furio Sandrini into music (whose first volume "0-24 Divieto di Sosta" – book and CD - has already been published).

He cooperated with: Magia delle Percussioni, Jazz Reunion, Media Aetas, Napoli ''91, Solis String Quartet, Nao Band, Poli Opposti ,Nuevo Tango Ensamble.
